Founded by Stem veteran Tim Luckow, the startup addresses the systemic inefficiencies that cause millions of dollars in music earnings to vanish annually. By replacing traditional percentage-based participation with a flat subscription model, Notes.fm allows creators to maintain full control over their output. The capital injection will accelerate the development of the platform's "Releases" feature, which integrates royalty collection directly into the distribution workflow.
Since its launch last year, the technology has identified over $10 million in missing payments for high-profile clients like James Blake and Girl In Red. Beyond payments, the company maintains Credits.fm, an open database indexing 150 million song codes to ensure metadata accuracy across the industry. With this funding, the firm plans to expand its global infrastructure, positioning itself as a comprehensive financial layer for independent musicians navigating a fragmented digital economy.
