Cunningham took to X on September 14 to label the singer’s neutrality during the ongoing conflict in Gaza as a definitive moral stance. The criticism follows Macklemore’s removal from the tour, which occurred shortly after he led chants of "Free Palestine" during a performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Sheeran has denied personal involvement in the dismissal, attributing the decision to venue promoters who allegedly threatened to cancel upcoming shows unless the rapper was removed. Figures such as Wil Wheaton and educator Ms. Rachel have also joined the chorus of disapproval, accusing the singer of prioritizing commercial interests over artistic conviction.
