Potts Law Firm Sues AT&T Over Midland Utility Line Accident

A routine transit through Midland, Texas, turned catastrophic when sagging utility lines snagged an 18-wheeler, dragging a power pole into oncoming traffic. Potts Law Firm has filed suit against AT&T in Dallas County District Court, alleging the telecommunications giant failed to maintain safe clearance heights for commercial vehicles.

The legal action, filed on behalf of Felix Alberto Prieto and Yvette Gandara, centers on the claim that AT&T allowed cable lines to hang dangerously low over a road serving as a vital artery for the local oilfield industry. According to the complaint, these obstructions posed a persistent hazard to motorists until the collision brought the infrastructure down, resulting in multiple injuries.

Derek Potts, National Managing Partner of the firm, emphasized that commercial drivers should not face preventable infrastructure hazards while performing their duties. The litigation seeks to hold the company accountable for the alleged negligence that transformed a public roadway into a site of a severe accident. Attorney Russell Shrauner added that the case highlights the vulnerability of truck drivers, who often find themselves victims of external environmental risks beyond their control. The case, docketed as DC-26-17579, remains pending in the Dallas County District Court.
