TAAF Launches Grant Program to Surface Hidden AAPI History

Starting September 16, filmmakers, journalists, and digital creators can submit proposals to the Asian+American Storytelling Initiative. The program functions as an expansion of TAAF’s existing digital series, The United States of Asian+America, aiming to foster a sense of belonging for the country’s 25 million AAPI residents. Successful applicants will receive grants between $5,000 and $10,000, alongside direct mentorship from a selection committee of industry veterans.

The panel includes Oscar-nominated director Sean Wang, ABC News anchor Juju Chang, and writer-director Dana Ledoux Miller. CEO Norman Chen emphasizes that because the public frequently forms its understanding of AAPI communities through television and social media, these creative projects serve as vital tools for correcting long-standing misconceptions. Applications remain open until October 7, 2026, with the final cohort of storytellers scheduled for announcement on November 2.
