Quorum Cyber to Acquire Ontinue to Build Microsoft-First Agentic SOC

Edinburgh-based Quorum Cyber has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Ontinue, a move designed to create an expansive Microsoft-centric managed extended detection and response provider. The merger aims to address the autonomous threat era by integrating agentic AI systems with human-led security expertise across North America, the UK, and Europe.

The proposed transaction combines two heavyweights of the Microsoft security ecosystem, aiming to transition security operations from manual tool management to automated, machine-speed defense. By leveraging Ontinue’s Agentic Security Operations Center (SOC) alongside Quorum Cyber’s existing threat-led services, the unified entity intends to deploy AI agents that can investigate, reason, and act within pre-defined guardrails. This approach seeks to resolve the bottleneck where human decision-making lags behind the speed of modern cyberattacks.

Kevin Hanes, CEO of Quorum Cyber, emphasized that the future of defense lies in experienced teams directing autonomous systems rather than simply managing more individual security tools. The combined company will support the full lifecycle of Microsoft security, including Azure, Sentinel, and Defender, while helping clients navigate the regulatory complexities of AI adoption. The deal, backed by Eterna Growth Partners, is expected to close following standard regulatory approvals. Until then, both organizations will continue to function independently. Financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed.
