The transition centers on the deployment of a dedicated mobile application, marking a first for American Water. By integrating the VXconnect platform, the utility intends to move beyond traditional service models, allowing customers to manage payments, monitor consumption, and request services autonomously. Beyond basic account management, the platform will leverage analytics to provide personalized conservation insights, aiming to reduce paper billing and bolster sustainability initiatives.
Matt Prine, American Water’s Chief Customer Officer, emphasized that the decision was driven by the need for a modular architecture capable of onboarding new customer populations while maintaining service consistency. Takisha Walker, the utility’s Senior Director of Customer Operations, framed the upgrade as a strategic investment to align digital accessibility with the company's core mission of providing reliable service. VertexOne COO Keith Ahonen noted that the collaboration is designed to support the utility’s growth trajectory, positioning the platform to handle the complexities of a large-scale, industry-leading operation.
