AuraVeo turns coffee bags into direct subscription channels

Coffee brand El Caficultor is transforming its physical product packaging into a digital sales engine. By integrating AuraVeo’s cloud-based technology directly into front-of-pack designs, the company aims to convert one-off retail purchases into recurring subscription relationships, bypassing the anonymity that typically plagues traditional shelf-based coffee sales.

The initiative, developed alongside Appetite Creative, replaces standard, hidden QR codes with functional design elements. Each pack features a code embedded within a country map illustration, accompanied by the prompt "ESCANEA Y AHORRA" (Scan and Save). When scanned, the code launches a mobile experience that provides the origin story, farm details, and sensory profiles of the coffee. Crucially, the platform incentivizes loyalty by offering customers a 10% discount on recurring subscriptions immediately after engaging with the content.

For brands, the technology resolves a long-standing retail hurdle: losing contact with the consumer once the product leaves the shelf. According to Julián A. Lozano Sánchez, General Manager at Indian EcoTrade/El Caficultor, the system allows the brand to move from anonymous transactions to a known customer base. Unlike static codes, AuraVeo’s cloud platform enables brands to update content dynamically without requiring new packaging prints. This provides granular visibility into how consumers interact with specific SKUs, including the Cerrado Dulce, Sidamo, La Vereda, and Selva Negra lines. The technology is set to be showcased at London Packaging Week, running from 16th to 17th September.
