Phillips enters the role following a period where the importer saw sales and volume jump by more than 45%. The company, which manages the Artikaas brand, has doubled its workforce and import capacity during this timeframe, shifting from traditional retail to a broader mix of private-label and foodservice offerings. His mandate involves bridging the gap between Dutch production capabilities and the specific logistics required for the American market.
CEO Steve Margarites noted that the appointment reflects a need for leadership capable of scaling a specialty food business without diluting brand integrity. Phillips brings over 20 years of experience to the firm, including a seven-year tenure as Senior Director of Sales for the East region at Vital Farms and a previous leadership role at Dora’s Naturals. He also holds specific industry experience from his time at Artisanal Premium Cheese, positioning him to manage the company's transition into its next phase of market penetration.
