Martin Guitar Refreshes 16 Series With Bold Colors and New Body Shapes

Nazareth-based C. F. Martin & Co. has overhauled its 16 Series, moving beyond traditional aesthetics to introduce a vibrant lineup of all-solid-wood acoustic-electric guitars. Launched September 15, 2026, the collection blends stage-ready electronics with unconventional finishes designed to help performers stand out under the lights.

The updated series emphasizes visual and sonic variety, moving away from a one-size-fits-all approach. Players can choose from finishes such as Blue Denim, Cherry Cola, Cream, Black Smoke, and the classic 1935 Burst. Beyond the new color palette, the lineup introduces the DSS-16E, the company’s first short-scale sloped-shoulder Dreadnought. Featuring a 24.9-inch scale length, this model provides a punchy, woody tone designed for a more relaxed playing feel.

Every instrument in the collection utilizes all-solid wood construction, pairing solid spruce tops with either mahogany or East Indian rosewood back and sides. This configuration ensures that whether a player selects the compact 00L for intimate projection or the Grand Jumbo 12-string for room-filling resonance, the acoustic foundation remains consistent. Each guitar comes equipped with L.R. Baggs Element electronics, standardizing the amplified output for stage performance. To support the release, the company is also rolling out a limited run of branded lifestyle accessories, including apparel and steins, that mirror the new color schemes of the instrument line.
