Wayne Memorial Hospital Settlement Offers Relief After Data Breach

Individuals whose private information was compromised during a 2024 security breach at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Georgia may now file for settlement benefits. A class action lawsuit, Bates et al. v. Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Inc., has reached a proposed resolution regarding the unauthorized access discovered in June of that year.

The incident, which occurred between May 30 and June 3, 2024, led to allegations that the hospital failed to adequately protect patient data. While the hospital denies these claims of negligence, the resulting settlement allows eligible class members to claim cash payments and enroll in credit monitoring services. To participate, claimants must submit their forms by December 7, 2026, through the official settlement website.

Class members have until November 7, 2026, to opt out of the agreement if they wish to retain the right to pursue independent litigation or to file a formal objection with the court. The Superior Court of Wayne County has scheduled a final approval hearing for January 27, 2027. Full details regarding the claims process and legal documentation are available at www.WMHDataSettlement.com or by contacting the settlement administrator at 1-888-716-0934.
