Attems Debuts 2025 Cicinis Sauvignon Blanc from Collio Terraces

Perched on the sandstone slopes of Monte Calvario, the 2025 Cicinis Sauvignon Blanc marks the latest release from the Frescobaldi-owned Attems estate. This single-vineyard cru captures the distinct mineral profile of the Collio Goriziano region, defined by a growing season that favored aromatic concentration and structural precision.

The 2025 vintage benefited from a stable spring and a summer characterized by sharp diurnal temperature shifts, with daytime highs reaching 90°F and nighttime cooling to 59°F. These conditions allowed for a staggered harvest throughout September, blending the vibrant acidity of early-picked grapes with the tropical depth of later arrivals.

Winemaking techniques emphasize tension and texture. Following a dawn harvest, the grapes undergo whole-cluster pressing and fermentation across a precise mix of vessels: 40% in concrete eggs and 60% in a combination of new and seasoned oak. By skipping malolactic fermentation and aging for eight months on lees, the estate maintains the wine’s signature citrus-forward profile, marked by notes of lime zest, elderflower, and a faint smoky finish. Attems, which has been part of the Frescobaldi portfolio since 2000, continues to focus its 109-acre operation on translating the complex 'Ponca' soil—a mix of ancient marine sandstone and silt—into wines of persistent minerality.
