Coffman Stair Parts Finalizes Leadership Overhaul with New President

John Sowatsky has stepped into the role of president at Coffman Stair Parts, marking the final piece of a year-long executive restructuring for the 150-year-old manufacturer. His appointment follows the recent recruitment of key finance and sales heads, signaling a sharpened focus on custom wood production and supply chain efficiency.

Sowatsky, who previously served as the company’s chief operating officer, will now oversee the firm’s national operations. His background in automotive supply chain management, including a tenure as vice president of supply chain at Grabber Construction Products, informs the company's current strategy to refine its distribution and manufacturing output. His elevation completes a leadership trio assembled over the last nine months.

Supporting this transition, Erik Wilke joined the company in February as vice president of sales, tasked with managing dealer and builder channel strategies after holding leadership roles at Wurth Wood Group and Fastenal. Tim Short, who arrived in December 2025 as director of finance and accounting, manages the firm’s financial reporting and cost structures, drawing on experience from previous roles at Swan Products and Sherwin-Williams. With the team now fully staffed, Sowatsky aims to align the company's historical distribution capabilities with modern demands for high-precision custom wood manufacturing.
