The collaboration, which began in 2025, focuses on leveraging SciBase’s AI-driven skin barrier diagnostic technology to predict relapses in patients suffering from atopic dermatitis. According to SciBase CEO Pia Renaudin, the rapid pace of patient recruitment in their initial study served as the primary catalyst for this expansion. Deliveries of the diagnostic hardware are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
SciBase has spent over two decades developing its point-of-care platform at the Karolinska Institute, combining artificial intelligence with electrical impedance spectroscopy. By integrating these tools into Castle Biosciences' molecular diagnostics workflow, the companies aim to provide clinicians with more precise data to manage chronic skin conditions and improve therapeutic outcomes.
