The scope of work centers on critical structural upgrades, including the replacement of the bascule piers' vessel protection system and bridge barriers. Engineering crews will also perform extensive rehabilitation on the superstructure and substructure of the approach spans. A primary feature of the overhaul involves converting the existing 53-meter double-leaf bascule bridge into a fixed span structure, effectively simplifying the crossing’s mechanical requirements.
Operations are already underway at the site. The project is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2029, with the contract value officially recorded in Skanska’s U.S. order bookings for the third quarter of 2026.
