Oprah Winfrey Discusses Health Journey at Telluride Film Festival

Stepping onto the stage at the Telluride Film Festival in a cream-colored ensemble, Oprah Winfrey appeared before a live audience to host a conversation with mountaineer Jim Morrison. Her public appearance arrives as the media icon continues to speak openly about her 82-pound weight loss and the biological realities of obesity.

The 72-year-old television personality attended the North American premiere of "Everest: The Other Side" in Colorado, where she discussed the documentary’s exploration of grief and resilience. Beyond her professional commitments, Winfrey has recently become a vocal advocate for de-stigmatizing weight struggles, moving away from the self-blame that defined her earlier experiences with dieting.

Winfrey has credited GLP-1 medication for quieting the "food noise" that previously dominated her daily thoughts. After reaching a weight of 155 pounds—a significant drop from her recorded high of 237 pounds—she has sought to reframe obesity as a condition rooted in genetics rather than a simple lack of willpower. While she briefly experimented with stopping the medication last year, she reported a 20-pound weight gain during that period, leading her to conclude that the treatment remains a necessary tool for her long-term health management. She continues to supplement this regimen with a disciplined routine of hiking, weightlifting, and treadmill workouts.
