Multiple sources close to the production claim Bloom remained attached to the film for months while the project faced shrinking budgets, shifting locations, and scheduling conflicts. The narrative of a sudden departure is described by those inside the camp as a vindictive attempt to shift blame. According to these accounts, the chaos began long before Bloom officially stepped away, as the production struggled with a lack of transparency and repeated scope reductions.
The project’s instability reportedly reached a breaking point in late July when director Matt Smukler exited, citing the increasingly difficult circumstances. Smukler, described as a methodical filmmaker, found the moving targets of the production untenable. While Bloom and co-star Priyanka Chopra allegedly understood the director’s decision, the loss placed immense pressure on the film. Bloom reportedly gave the production weeks to stabilize, but ultimately withdrew when it became clear the issues remained unresolved.
Despite the professional fallout, sources maintain that no personal feud exists between Bloom and Chopra, who are friends through their collaborative work with UNICEF. Bloom has not issued a public statement regarding his exit, but associates indicate he is deeply disappointed by the leaks, which he views as an attempt to scapegoat him for systemic production failures.
