Morrisons revamps store tech and data strategy with dual partnerships

Morrisons is overhauling its digital infrastructure through two distinct technology partnerships aimed at sharpening market insight and streamlining the checkout experience. The UK grocery chain is integrating advanced analytics from NIQ while simultaneously deploying Everseen’s computer vision platform across 200 locations to automate and accelerate self-service transactions.

The collaboration with NIQ centers on the latter’s Full View analytics suite. By consolidating market measurement, consumer intelligence, and omnichannel data into a single ecosystem, Morrisons aims to improve its agility in identifying growth opportunities. According to Russell Sylvester, NIQ’s retail lead for the UK and Ireland, the goal is to help the retailer transform complex data into immediate, actionable strategy across its physical and online channels.

In tandem with this data push, Morrisons is rolling out Everseen’s Evercheck software to modernize its store-level operations. The system uses real-time computer vision to monitor self-checkout lanes, allowing customers to correct scanning errors via on-screen prompts without staff intervention. This deployment, which follows a successful trial, is intended to reduce bottlenecks at the till and free up store colleagues to focus on direct customer service rather than manual oversight.
