Hyosung TNC Scales Bio-Spandex Production to Capture European Market

As European regulators tighten climate policies on fossil fuel reliance, Hyosung TNC is deploying its sugarcane-based regen™ Bio Spandex to reshape global textile supply chains. Chairman Cho Hyun-Joon is spearheading this shift, utilizing a fully integrated production ecosystem in Vietnam to replace traditional synthetic materials with renewable alternatives.

The company’s strategy centers on a vertically integrated platform that converts VIVE-certified raw sugar into Bio-BDO, Bio-PTMG, and finished Bio-Spandex. This model aims to offer fashion brands a scalable path toward decarbonization, moving the firm beyond the role of a standard material supplier. The initiative gained momentum at the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen, where the company showcased its mass-production capabilities.

Following the Denmark summit, Hyosung TNC intensified its presence in major textile hubs. In Brussels, the firm presented its solutions at the Future Fabrics Expo, aligning with the region's stringent climate standards. By July, the company had pivoted to the North American market, collaborating with global apparel brands at the Functional Fabric Fair in New York. There, they introduced a capsule collection featuring a blend of Lenzing’s TENCEL™ and regen Bio Spandex, alongside the high-performance CREORA® fiber line. Chairman Cho Hyun-Joon continues to prioritize these investments to secure a technological advantage and establish a circular economy across the global textile industry.
