The acquisition positions EPC Power as a key unit within Flex’s Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment. By combining EPC’s high-performance rectifiers and solid-state transformers with Flex’s thermal management capabilities, the merged entity intends to resolve the critical bottleneck of delivering stable, high-density power to AI data centers. EPC’s proprietary Agile Grid Forming technology is expected to provide essential support for grid stability, helping operators manage the volatile power loads typical of modern AI training clusters.
EPC Power CEO Jim Fusaro noted that the company has scaled its domestic manufacturing footprint nearly tenfold over the last four years, supported by investors Goldman Sachs Alternatives and Cleanhill Partners. This transaction marks a significant exit for the private equity firms, which helped transform the Poway-based manufacturer into a critical player for mission-critical infrastructure. As power availability becomes a primary constraint for data center expansion, the integration is designed to accelerate deployment timelines for large-scale computing environments.
