Pacific Science Center Secures $5.25 Million Grant for Outreach

The grant stands as one of the largest gifts in the institution's history and marks a significant early commitment from the foundation since it formalized its grantmaking process in late 2025. Science on Wheels, a staple of Washington STEM education for over 50 years, provides interactive workshops and assemblies for students from PreK through eighth grade.

Laura Ellen Muglia stated that the foundation prioritizes hands-on learning as a fundamental pillar for student success. The three-year funding package is earmarked to reach 350,000 students across the state, with a specific focus on providing free or deeply discounted programming to low-income communities. Beyond maintaining current operations, the grant will support the development of updated curriculum and new exhibits designed to meet evolving state science standards while advocacy efforts for public funding restoration continue.
