Traditional airport software often functions as a static data grid, forcing operators to manually reconcile flight schedules, baggage belts, and gate allocations across disconnected systems. Allegra RMS moves away from this fragmented approach by unifying airside and landside data into a single, cohesive model. The system continuously calculates optimal resource allocation, allowing the software to propose adjustments while leaving final decision-making power in the hands of human staff.
This emphasis on usability reflects a broader design philosophy at AirportLabs, where the interface is engineered to filter out operational noise. By presenting only the most relevant information to the shift team, the platform aims to act as a natural extension of the operator. Product Designer Sergiu Bolba noted that the goal was to transform complex data into intuitive, visually manageable interfaces that reduce the cognitive load on staff. Product Manager Rares Ignatescu added that the software is built to handle heavy lifting behind the scenes, ensuring that airport teams do not have to fight their own tools to maintain efficiency.
Currently deployed at Chicago O’Hare and more than 20 other global hubs, including Dubai Airports and AERODOM, the system serves millions of passengers annually. This latest win follows the company’s 2024 success, when its SkyCore AODB database earned a Red Dot award for interface and user experience, signaling a consistent industry move toward prioritizing the human element in high-stakes aviation technology.
