31 Governors Join Bipartisan Compact to Boost National Entrepreneurship

The Governor’s Compact on Entrepreneurship provides a framework for state leaders to implement practical reforms aimed at fostering economic growth. The movement traces its roots to an executive order issued by Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, who established the nation’s first executive-level Chief Entrepreneurial Officer. This model has since expanded into a broad coalition led by current National Governors Association Chair Wes Moore and his predecessor, Stitt.

Supporters emphasize that new ventures are the primary drivers of net job creation in the U.S. economy. According to data cited by the campaign, a 1% increase in entrepreneurial activity correlates with a 2% decline in poverty rates. By committing to this compact, participating governors aim to streamline business formation and promote local innovation. The initiative will undergo further scrutiny at the upcoming America the Entrepreneurial Summit, scheduled for November 19–20 in Washington, D.C., where policymakers and business leaders plan to evaluate the effectiveness of these regional strategies.
