TLC’s T-Boz Hospitalized Following Sickle Cell Crisis

TLC fans at the Mohegan Sun Arena were met with an unexpected absence on August 28 as Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins was forced to withdraw from the group’s “It’s Iconic” tour. The 56-year-old singer is currently recovering after a medical emergency related to her long-standing battle with sickle cell disease.

Bandmate Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas addressed the crowd during the Connecticut performance, asking for fan support while confirming the singer’s health setback. TLC representative Christal Jordan later clarified that Watkins required hospitalization to manage a sickle cell crisis. Despite the sudden departure, the tour continues, with Chilli performing alongside supporting acts Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue.

Management opted to maintain the schedule due to the interactive nature of the production. Audiences have responded with a surge of solidarity, filling the void by singing Watkins’ parts and sharing messages of encouragement online. This latest health challenge arrives shortly after Watkins publicly addressed rumors regarding a separate hospitalization in 2024, where she debunked speculation that a severe abdominal blockage was related to medication, attributing it instead to long-term surgical scar tissue.
