InCoax and Nokia launch multi-gigabit broadband in Minnesota

The project targets 30 to 40 buildings, leveraging existing coaxial infrastructure to deliver multi-gigabit speeds. This approach avoids the high costs and logistical complexities typically associated with retrofitting fiber-optic cabling throughout multi-dwelling units. By integrating with the Nokia Altiplano Access Controller, Sjoberg’s can now manage its coax-based network alongside fiber and PON infrastructure through a unified interface.

Beyond basic connectivity, the deployment incorporates the TruVizion diagnostics platform, allowing operators to monitor MoCA performance in real time. Jakob Tobieson, CEO of InCoax Networks, noted that the installation serves as a critical reference point for future collaborations with Nokia. The deployment supports both Fiber Access Extension and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) scenarios, positioning the reuse of legacy cabling as a sustainable alternative to new construction projects.
