eComID is currently developing a digital infrastructure intended to allow shoppers to carry personal preferences—including size, fit, and style—across various retail platforms. By absorbing Nilum, the company plans to apply this context to the secondhand market, simplifying product discovery for users browsing pre-owned goods. Nilum founder Jonas Fagerlund will transition to the role of Head of Recommerce at eComID to oversee the integration.
Oscar Rundqvist, co-founder and CEO at eComID, highlighted the technical synergy between the two firms, noting that Fagerlund’s expertise in building AI experiences aligns with the company’s broader mission. Jaime Ferrando, eComID’s head of AI, added that recruiting top-tier talent is essential to accelerating the firm’s technology roadmap. This acquisition underscores an industry-wide push toward integrating sophisticated AI tools into retail operations, particularly within the growing circular economy.
