The initiative addresses the logistical challenges student-athletes face when balancing rigorous travel schedules with academic requirements. By integrating mobile broadband into the college's transportation, the institution provides students the ability to access assignments and communicate with faculty in real-time from the road. The routers also provide coaches and support staff with constant access to critical logistical data, such as weather updates and scheduling changes.
Ashley Klco, Executive Director of Campus Safety and Risk Management at North Central College, noted that the implementation process was seamless, emphasizing that the technology supports both the academic and athletic commitments of the students. Mike Cataletto, CTO of Scientel Solutions, framed the upgrade as a necessity rather than a luxury, highlighting how constant connectivity allows students to maintain their studies while away from campus facilities.
