Early-Career Scientists Face October 2 Deadline for ATTR Research Grants

Sponsored by AstraZeneca and Ionis Pharmaceuticals, the forum offers more than just funding; it provides a platform for investigators to present findings to established leaders and receive critical feedback. A blinded review process will determine the top four candidates, who are invited to present during a live virtual session on October 29, 2026. The two highest-scoring presentations will receive the Wiesman Award for Excellence in Early-Career ATTR Research, named for the late clinician-researcher Dr. Janice Wiesman.

Past recipient Dr. Evangelos Oikonomou of Yale School of Medicine credits the program with providing both professional visibility and the necessary support to push boundaries in early detection. Beyond the financial incentive, Oikonomou highlights the event's role in fostering a collaborative network of clinicians, patients, and advocates dedicated to improving treatment outcomes for cardiac amyloidosis. Eligible investigators are encouraged to finalize their submissions before the October deadline to join this growing community of scientists.
