The integration leverages the LayerZero OFT standard, allowing USDT to function as a native asset on Stellar rather than a wrapped token. By connecting to the USDT0 network, which has processed over $100 billion in volume since early 2025, Stellar gains access to a unified liquidity layer shared across 29 other blockchain ecosystems. This move addresses long-standing fragmentation issues, allowing fintechs and payment providers to serve global markets through a single, consistent asset model.
Stellar Development Foundation CEO Denelle Dixon noted that the addition strengthens the network's long-standing focus on cross-border finance. For developers, the update simplifies the creation of payment flows and DeFi applications, as the asset remains interoperable across chains. The token is immediately supported by a range of platforms including Kraken, Bitget Wallet, and Fireblocks, with further ecosystem partners expected to follow. This development arrives as Stellar continues to scale its operations, having already processed more than $40 billion in transactions throughout 2026.
