John Rinaldi Joins Forbes Technology Council to Advance Smart Industry

John Rinaldi, founder of Pewaukee-based Real Time Automation, has been inducted into the Forbes Technology Council. Selected for his extensive history in industrial networking, Rinaldi will join a private network of global technology executives to share expertise on data standardization and the practical requirements for industrial artificial intelligence.

Rinaldi enters the council with a background defined by decades of work in plant-floor connectivity. As a veteran in the field, he has authored six industry-standard books, including guides on Modbus, OPC UA, and Industrial Ethernet, alongside over 100 technical articles. His firm, Real Time Automation, has focused since 1989 on dismantling proprietary vendor lock-in and assisting manufacturers in modernizing legacy systems for smarter, more connected operations.

The Forbes Technology Council selection committee evaluated candidates based on their professional track records and technical leadership. In this new capacity, Rinaldi will collaborate with peers in a private forum and contribute articles to Forbes.com. His upcoming work aims to address the foundational challenges of digital transformation, specifically focusing on data modeling and the interoperability necessary for effective industrial AI. Rinaldi maintains that successful automation hinges on the ability to standardize and contextualize data at the edge, a perspective he intends to bring to the council's broader discussions on scalable factory architecture.
