Samaritan’s Purse Airlifts Emergency Aid to Nepal After Landslide

A 767 cargo plane touched down in Kathmandu this morning, delivering 40 tons of supplies to a region reeling from a catastrophic glacial landslide. As the death toll rises and thousands remain missing, response teams are rushing heavy-duty tarps, water filters, and hygiene kits to survivors left with nothing.

The disaster struck when a wall of water and debris surged down a river valley, obliterating homes and infrastructure. Samaritan’s Purse mobilized its disaster response specialists within 48 hours of the event, coordinating with local partners to identify the most critical needs on the ground. The current shipment also includes blankets and solar lights to support families displaced by the mudslide.

"The devastation in Nepal is unimaginable," said Franklin Graham, president of the organization. "We are heartbroken to see the death toll continue to climb, and many families are still waiting for news of their missing loved ones." The group has a history in the country, having previously managed relief operations following a major earthquake in 2015.
