Interest rate products remained the core engine of the exchange, with an average daily volume of 16.7 million contracts. Within this segment, U.S. Treasury futures and options saw a 15% increase, bolstered by record-setting activity in Ultra U.S. Treasury Bond futures, which reached 791,000 contracts. Other gains were broad-based: equity index volume rose 7%, while agricultural products saw a 12% boost, highlighted by record results for both Chicago SRW and KC HRW wheat futures.
Metals and micro-sized products drew particular interest from market participants. Micro Gold futures volume climbed 81%, and Micro Silver futures surged 286% compared to the previous August. Furthermore, the BrokerTec platform recorded an average daily notional value of $1.059 trillion, a 16% increase, supported by strong European Repo demand. International participation also grew, with EMEA and APAC volumes rising 9% and 12% respectively.
