The performance leap from an initial COP of 6.5 follows targeted refinements in system controls, design, and integration. While the Arcturus line offers a range of outputs—delivering temperature lifts between 38°C and 185°C with varying efficiency—this new benchmark demonstrates the technology's peak potential. By producing steam at a COP of 8.0, the system reduces energy requirements by roughly 10 times compared to traditional boiler methods.
For European manufacturers, this shift carries significant economic weight. Beyond lowering raw steam costs, the technology offers a hedge against energy price volatility and reduces compliance burdens under the EU Emissions Trading System. Arun Gupta, CEO of Skyven, noted that the system disrupts a century of boiler-reliant steam production, providing a practical route for factories to regain industrial competitiveness. Daniel Galis of the Renewable Thermal Collaborative highlighted that with 90% of EU industrial process heat gas currently imported, such electrification efforts are essential for building a resilient, less vulnerable manufacturing sector.
