Dr. Daniel Amen Launches Brain Health Program for Faith Communities

Psychiatrist and author Dr. Daniel G. Amen is taking his clinical research into the pews with the launch of Amen WHOLE-4, a new initiative designed to integrate neuroscience with spiritual practice. The program, which opened for enrollment today, aims to treat physical and mental health as a single, holistic endeavor.

The program centers on four pillars: the physical needs of the brain and body, psychological thought patterns, social relationships, and spiritual purpose. By grouping these elements, Dr. Amen intends to address the rising national trends of anxiety, depression, and loneliness that he argues are often treated too disparately. The curriculum is designed for non-clinical leaders, allowing pastors and ministry staff to facilitate small groups without needing medical credentials.

This initiative follows the success of The Daniel Plan, a collaborative project with Pastor Rick Warren and Dr. Mark Hyman that sought to spark community-wide health renewal. Dr. Amen draws his methodology from over 30 years of research and a database of 300,000 brain SPECT scans conducted at Amen Clinics. He views the program not merely as a health course, but as a potential movement, framing the maintenance of brain health as a fundamental act of worship for congregants.
