The partnership marks a shift in how the pizza chain manages logistics, moving away from fragmented processes toward a centralized digital stack. By utilizing Cartwheel’s Hybrid Delivery technology, franchisees gain a granular view of fleet performance, allowing them to balance in-house resources with third-party support from DoorDash Drive. Automated rules now dictate order routing based on proximity, order value, and real-time driver availability, reducing the manual coordination previously required by store operators.
Beyond efficiency, the system provides Hungry Howie’s with greater control over the customer experience. Even when third-party couriers handle the transit, the platform ensures that branded tracking, promotional banners, and feedback requests remain consistent. Moe Shrikian, Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Hungry Howie’s, noted that the move is intended to maintain direct relationships with guests while leveraging the flexibility of external delivery networks. As part of the Toast partner ecosystem, the software integrates directly into existing restaurant technology, positioning the brand to adopt future fulfillment models, including autonomous delivery.
