Whataburger Hires Starbucks Veteran to Lead Restaurant Technology

Whataburger has appointed Rob Dellinger as its new Vice President of Restaurant Technology. Dellinger joins the fast-food chain following a 26-year tenure at Starbucks, where he most recently served as Director of PoS Application Development and oversaw modernization efforts across more than 15,000 North American locations.

In his new role at Whataburger, Dellinger is tasked with streamlining and scaling the technology systems that power the chain’s restaurant operations. The appointment aims to provide more robust digital tools for both employees and guests, reflecting the company's focus on long-term growth and infrastructure stability.

Rohit Kapoor, Chief Digital and Technology Transformation Officer at Whataburger, highlighted Dellinger’s background in managing complex systems at scale. According to Kapoor, the move is intended to prioritize the restaurant-level experience by ensuring new technology remains grounded in the practical needs of staff and daily operations.
