Lizzo Secures Legal Victory as Harassment Lawsuit Is Dismissed

A California judge has granted summary judgment in favor of Lizzo’s touring company, effectively ending a high-profile legal battle initiated by former employee Asha Daniels. The ruling marks a significant turnaround for the Grammy-winning artist, who has spent recent months navigating both professional scrutiny and a difficult period for her music career.

The lawsuit, filed in 2023, alleged that the singer and her company, Big Grrrl Big Touring, subjected Daniels to sexual and racial harassment. Lizzo consistently denied these claims, labeling the allegations as outrageous and unfounded. Following the court’s decision, Lizzo’s attorney, Melissa Glass, described the ruling as a total victory, noting that the case lacked any substantive basis. The legal dispute against the star personally had already been dismissed in December 2024.

This resolution provides a moment of stability for the Houston-born artist amid a challenging 2026. Lizzo recently addressed the public about the emotional toll of her latest album’s performance, which struggled to gain commercial traction. Despite the professional and personal setbacks, including online criticism regarding her recent projects, the singer has maintained a focus on her future endeavors. She is currently preparing for the September 8, 2026, release of her first children’s book, "Lil Lizzo Meets Sasha B Flootin," a project centered on themes of self-confidence and friendship.
