The Power Tether shifts the energy source from onboard packs to a ground station connected to a generator. By installing an air module into the Sherpa drone’s battery bay, operators can maintain longer, uninterrupted work sessions for exterior facade, window, and facility maintenance. In internal testing, a tethered Sherpa drone remained airborne for eight hours and 48 seconds without a single battery change.
Adoption metrics suggest a clear preference for the new setup. Among early users who have tested the system, 90% of flight time is now performed via tether power, relegating batteries to a secondary, 10% role. According to Andrew Ashur, founder and CEO of Lucid Bots, the technology effectively ends the industry's reliance on battery-cycle management, allowing crews to focus on building maintenance rather than the battery clock. The unit integrates with existing Sherpa systems in under 15 minutes and includes an automated backup landing sequence if generator power is lost.
