Co-Diagnostics Launches Vector Smart Platform at Overseas USAF Base

Salt Lake City-based Co-Diagnostics has exported its mosquito surveillance technology for the first time, delivering laboratory equipment and reagents to an international United States Air Force installation. This deployment marks a strategic shift for the company as it moves its pathogen-detection platform beyond domestic borders.

The Vector Smart system, which utilizes multiplex PCR assays to identify pathogens such as West Nile virus, Zika, and dengue, was previously restricted to 40 customers across 21 U.S. states. By providing local abatement districts and military units with rapid diagnostic tools, the platform aims to streamline situational awareness in regions where mosquito-borne disease risks are high.

CEO Dwight Egan stated that the international expansion validates the platform's versatility and addresses a critical gap in decentralized surveillance. The company intends to leverage this military contract to bolster its broader commercialization efforts, positioning the molecular diagnostic tools as a standard resource for public health officials tasked with managing mosquito populations and tracking encephalitis outbreaks.
