AeroLOPA began as a passion project for former Foster + Partners architect Gregor Milne, who drafted accurate airline interior maps for enthusiasts. Along with managing director Jonathan Shapiro, Milne turned the hobby into a commercial venture that now licenses data to travel platforms, airlines, and manufacturers. Unlike traditional seat-map services that rely on user feedback or abstract schematics, AeroLOPA uses architectural drawings to determine exact measurements, such as legroom at bulkheads, seat width, and window alignment.
This data-driven approach powers a new ranking system that categorizes cabins based on verified physical dimensions rather than opinion. The new mobile app introduces features like 'Sunny Side', which tracks sunlight exposure during flight, and 'Super Schedule', a tool that analyzes historical aircraft swaps to help travelers predict the reliability of their cabin assignment. While the web platform remains a free resource for passengers, the mobile application operates on a subscription model of $5 per month or $29 annually following a 14-day trial. As the global aircraft seating market moves toward a projected $14 billion valuation by 2031, AeroLOPA is positioning its granular, measurement-based intelligence as the new standard for both consumer travel planning and industry-wide logistics.
