Enovis to Acquire French Surgical Robotics Firm eCential Robotics

The French surgical technology developer eCential Robotics has received a binding acquisition offer from Enovis Corporation. The deal, which aims to integrate the Grenoble-based company’s modular Op.n platform into Enovis’ existing orthopedic ecosystem, is expected to finalize in the fourth quarter of 2026 pending standard regulatory approval.

The acquisition bridges Enovis’ ASTRA technology suite with eCential Robotics’ specialized engineering in surgical automation and navigation. The Op.n platform, which holds FDA 510(k) clearance for spine surgery in the United States, serves as the core asset in this transition. By merging these capabilities, Enovis intends to scale its robotic-assisted surgery portfolio while maintaining existing partnerships with spine implant providers.

Clément Vidal, CEO of eCential Robotics, described the move as a strategic step to improve operating room efficiency and patient outcomes through expanded resources. Damien McDonald, CEO of Enovis, noted that the integration of the French firm’s intellectual property will become the foundation of the company’s broader robotics strategy. Following the transaction, the Grenoble facility will operate as a center of excellence dedicated to the combined innovation roadmap. Financial advisory for eCential Robotics was provided by Apparius, with legal counsel handled by Goodwin France and Cabinet Franck Robert.
