Dyson enters oral care with the CameraJet toothbrush

James Dyson has unveiled the CameraJet, a premium electric toothbrush that integrates a high-resolution camera and AI-driven fluid dynamics to target plaque in real time. Launching September 1, 2026, for $499, the device aims to automate the flossing process by identifying interdental gaps during a standard brushing session.

The device features Gap Optical Targeting, an AI system that processes 28 images per second to detect gaps between teeth. Once a gap is identified, the brush releases a conical jet of mouthrinse to clear plaque. Dyson engineers developed this technology over six years, utilizing a custom-built proxy plaque to optimize the spray profile for better efficacy compared to traditional needle-type water flossers.

Beyond its imaging capabilities, the CameraJet includes a 12.5ml anti-gravity tank that ensures consistent fluid delivery regardless of the device's orientation. The hardware is paired with the MyDyson app, which allows users to view live footage of their brushing progress and receive feedback on coverage. To maintain optical clarity, the system is designed to work with proprietary non-foaming toothpaste. The package includes a docking station that handles both charging and automated tank refilling in three seconds.
