Investors Face September 21 Deadline in Cogent Communications Lawsuit

Investors who purchased common stock in Cogent Communications Holdings, Inc. between February 29, 2024, and May 1, 2026, have until September 21, 2026, to seek lead plaintiff status in an ongoing securities fraud class action lawsuit filed by the Rosen Law Firm.

The litigation alleges that Cogent executives provided misleading information regarding the company's optical wavelength "backlog." According to the complaint, a significant portion of these orders were unlikely to convert into revenue, as many customers lacked the capacity or willingness to accept delivery. Consequently, plaintiffs argue that Cogent’s public revenue and margin targets lacked any objective basis and that the company’s financial stability was overstated, particularly concerning its long-standing dividend policy.

Furthermore, the lawsuit highlights concerns regarding CEO David Schaeffer, alleging that undisclosed risks associated with his high-risk stock pledging activities threatened to depress share prices. Investors impacted by these disclosures may participate in the case through a contingency fee arrangement. While a lawsuit has been initiated, no class has been certified yet; individuals may choose to retain their own counsel or remain as absent class members without taking immediate action.
