Texas Expands Tourism Offerings with New Resorts and Culinary Landmarks

From the launch of the state's first inclusive hotels to the debut of Michelin-starred dining, Texas is recalibrating its travel landscape. With new outdoor acreage and specialized family attractions, the state aims to broaden its appeal as a diverse destination for wellness, adventure, and high-end gastronomy.

The hospitality sector is seeing a shift toward specialized lodging. 1 Hotel Austin brings a sustainability focus to the capital this September, while San Antonio’s Morgan’s Hotel introduces a model prioritizing accessibility. Wellness travelers have a new destination in Spicewood, where the 600-acre Canyon Ranch Texas opens its doors on Oct. 15. Natural exploration is also expanding: Palo Pinto Mountains State Park now offers 4,900 acres for outdoor recreation, and the Enchanted Rock State Natural Area has effectively doubled in size with a new backcountry zone.

Culinary and cultural recognition continues to climb. The 2025 MICHELIN Guide Texas awarded first-time stars to Dallas-based Mamani and San Antonio’s Isidore and Nicosi, with the 2026 selections set to drop on Oct. 8. The state’s viticulture also gained international traction as four Hill Country wineries—Ab Astris, Turtle Creek, Adega Vinho, and Spicewood Vineyards—secured gold medals at the 2026 Decanter World Wine Awards. For families, the landscape now includes niche entertainment like the Universal Kids Studio in Frisco and the year-round surf waves of McKinney’s Cannon Beach.
