Stanford genetics professor Dr. Michael Snyder has spent two years using a lab-developed gel that bypasses traditional cosmetic marketing in favor of genomic research. Developed by Yuvan Research Inc., the product centers on GHK-Cu, a peptide that researchers suggest can shift gene activity toward patterns found in younger tissue.

The development of NEEL Gel required overcoming a significant hurdle: GHK-Cu is notoriously unstable when exposed to oxygen. To ensure the peptide remains potent, the company abandoned conventional jars in favor of specialized applicators designed to minimize air contact. This technical focus reflects the company’s roots in longevity research rather than traditional beauty formulation.

A clinical trial conducted at McGill University’s Royal Victoria Hospital provided the initial validation for this approach. Over a three-month period, twenty-one middle-aged participants showed an average 28 percent increase in collagen fiber density, as measured by ultrasound imaging. While Snyder’s endorsement highlights the product's credibility, it remains a company-sponsored testimonial.

Beyond topical applications, Yuvan Research is testing GHK-Cu for systemic use. An early, small-scale trial in a hospital gastroenterology department is currently investigating an oral version of the peptide for inflammatory bowel disease. Although four patients reported remission of colitis, these results are preliminary, and the company maintains that its primary objective remains the biological mechanisms of skin aging.
