Aberdeen Carolina and Western Railway Opens Candor Logistics Hub

The new facility is engineered to manage over 100 rail cars simultaneously, supporting a wide array of commodities including plastic resins, fuels, and food-grade products. Infrastructure at the site includes certified scales, automated gate access, and high-security monitoring. Beyond the current transload operations, the park incorporates two adjacent, pad-ready plots ranging from 11 to 20 acres. These sites are designed to accommodate industrial builds between 100,000 and 300,000 square feet, targeting a $50 million private investment and the creation of up to 100 local jobs.

Paul Hoben, Director of Business Development at ACWR, noted that the park’s proximity to I-73 and I-74 provides a significant logistical advantage for manufacturers in central North Carolina. The project was realized through a collaborative funding effort involving the North Carolina Southeast Partnership, the North Carolina Railroad, and the NCDOT. Savannah Heath, Director of Montgomery County Economic Development, described the site as a cornerstone of the county's long-term growth strategy. By connecting to major interchanges in Charlotte and Aberdeen, the park links regional businesses to the broader Norfolk Southern and CSX rail systems.
