PROCEPT BioRobotics Faces Securities Class Action Over Sales Practices

Investors have launched a class-action lawsuit against PROCEPT BioRobotics, alleging the medical technology firm artificially inflated revenue through aggressive, late-quarter bulk discount programs. The litigation claims these practices masked declining demand for its Aquablation therapy handpieces, ultimately causing share prices to plummet by nearly 50 percent.

The lawsuit, filed by Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP, targets PROCEPT’s financial disclosures between February 28, 2024, and February 25, 2026. Plaintiffs allege the company incentivized customers to stockpile single-use handpieces beyond actual procedural demand. This strategy effectively pulled future revenue into earlier quarters, creating a facade of growth that collapsed when the company was forced to address excess inventory levels.

The discrepancy between sales and actual clinical usage surfaced through a series of quarterly earnings misses. By February 25, 2026, the company confirmed that cumulative excess inventory had reached 10,000 units, leading to a 30 percent sequential drop in U.S. handpiece sales. Management subsequently terminated the discount program and disclosed that sales had materially exceeded actual procedures since early 2023. Investors who suffered significant losses during this period are encouraged to contact lead counsel before the September 22, 2026, deadline.
