Jeremy Renner Sparks MCU Return Rumors With Cryptic Hawkeye Post

Jeremy Renner has ignited speculation regarding a potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after sharing an image of his Hawkeye costume on Instagram. Set to the character’s iconic theme, the post arrived amid reports of ongoing additional photography for the upcoming blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday.

While the actor offered no context for the image, the timing has drawn intense scrutiny from fans. Marvel Studios has not officially added Renner to the cast of the film, and the actor previously indicated in October 2025 that he was not slated to appear in either Doomsday or the subsequent Secret Wars. Winston Duke, who portrays M’Baku, recently confirmed that production work is currently underway, though industry experts note that additional photography often involves minor adjustments rather than major casting expansions.

Despite the ambiguity surrounding his theatrical future, Renner’s commitment to the role remains firm elsewhere. Kevin Feige announced that the actor will reprise his performance as Clint Barton for Avengers Infinity Defense, a new attraction scheduled to open at Disney California Adventure in 2028. The project features a star-studded lineup, including Chris Hemsworth and Anthony Mackie, signaling that Renner is prepared for physical roles three years after his near-fatal snowplow accident. Renner, who suffered over 35 broken bones in the 2023 incident, recently documented his recovery in his memoir, My Next Breath, focusing on his ongoing healing process and the resilience required to return to the screen.
