Great Sports Legends Dinner Returns to New York to Fund Paralysis Research

A decorated roster of Hall of Famers and Olympic gold medalists will gather at the New York Hilton Midtown on October 5 for the 41st Annual Great Sports Legends Dinner, an event dedicated to raising millions for the research efforts of The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis.

The evening features an expansive list of honorees including Rob Gronkowski, Shaun White, Laila Ali, Misty May-Treanor, Dale Jarrett, Andruw Jones, Chris Webber, Chamique Holdsclaw, Mark Recchi, John Randle, and Edgar Prado. Shane Battier will receive special recognition for his philanthropic contributions, while Gloria Estefan serves as the master of ceremonies. The program concludes with a musical performance by the band Train.

Beyond the celebrity presence, the dinner marks a personal milestone: the 60th birthday of Marc Buoniconti. Paralyzed during a college football game at age 19, Buoniconti serves as the president of the fund that bears his name. His father, the late NFL Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti, established the organization alongside Dr. Barth Green to drive clinical investigations into spinal cord and brain injuries, as well as neurological conditions such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and ALS. Proceeds from the evening support The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine.
