Walmart veteran launches Advisar with $750,000 pre-seed backing

Advisar, a new AI-powered platform designed to bring clarity to retail media analytics, has secured $750,000 in pre-seed funding. Led by Clutch VC, the round includes support from the Venture Center Arkansas Fund, The Validation Fund at Winrock International, and several prominent angel investors.

Founded by Christina Johnson, a former Chief of Staff to the General Manager of Walmart Connect, the startup aims to transform how retail suppliers approach advertising. The platform is currently in beta and provides a decisioning layer that allows brands to measure the direct business impact of their retail media investments. By integrating these insights with existing sales and marketing metrics, the company intends to move retail media away from being a vague line item toward a managed investment strategy.

Rajiv Bala, General Partner at Clutch VC, noted that the retail media sector has reached a critical point where it requires an independent measurement layer. Johnson’s background in customer strategy and media innovation at Walmart provides the foundation for this approach, as the company prepares for a general release this autumn. The new capital will be used to accelerate product development and support initial go-to-market efforts.
