Conrad Challenge Opens 20th Year for Global Student Innovators

The competition challenges teams of two to five students to develop original concepts across five distinct categories: Aerospace and Aviation, Cyber-Technology and Security, Energy and Environment, Health and Nutrition, and Water. Participants must not only engineer a technical solution but also build a viable business case, gaining mentorship from industry experts throughout the process. Top-performing teams will earn a place at the Innovation Summit held at Space Center Houston in April 2027.

Founded in 2007 by Nancy Conrad to honor her late husband, astronaut Charles "Pete" Conrad, the initiative emphasizes that innovation is not limited by age. Last year, the program drew more than 8,000 students from over 70 countries. The current Activation Stage, which provides the foundation for project development, runs through October 29.
